Artificial Insemination gives you greater control over genetics, breeding decisions and reproductive performance, while building a specialised skill with real value across the cattle industry.

Led by Head Trainer Megan Dodd, with more than 30 years of hands-on cattle reproduction experience, the program combines practical AI training, fertility management knowledge and real-world application.

Upon successful completion of the program requirements, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units of competency achieved.

REQUIREMENTS

To participate in this program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Students must be 16 years of age or older.
  • As this industry involves working outdoors and handling livestock in a range of environments and conditions, students should have a reasonable level of physical capability and previous livestock handling experience is highly recommended.
  • Practical training sessions are delivered at locations throughout Australia. Students are responsible for arranging their own travel and transport to and from practical training sessions.
  • Students require access to a computer with reliable internet connection to complete the online learning components of the program. A mobile phone alone is not suitable to complete this Training Program.
  • Students must provide clean rubber boots and suitable clothing for outdoor weather conditions during practical training sessions.
  • All other learning resources required for the program will be provided.
  • Please complete your own enrolment form.
    To meet ASQA requirements, each student must complete and sign their own enrolment form. This ensures you receive all the information about your course, provide your own personal details, complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) questions, and confirm the declarations yourself.
    If you need help using the online form, we're happy to assist – but the answers and declarations must come from you.

DURATION

  • This Training Program takes approximately 3 weeks part time in total 

  •  1 hour online induction

  • 2 weeks self-paced online learning including Assessment Task 1 to be completed prior to your Practical Training sessions with submission due at the end of Day 1 of your Practical training.

  • Independent research and self-directed learning activities to consolidate knowledge, develop understanding, and prepare for the practical component
  • Assessment 2 is a Case Study and Assessment 3 is to show practical competency.
  • They will be completed as part of your Practical training.

Where can this course take me?

Graduates may be eligible to work as an Artificial Insemination Technician (Cattle) or pursue other roles within the dairy and cattle industries.

DELIVERY

  • This program is delivered through a blended learning model, combining online theory and face-to-face practical training.

  • Participants will complete the online induction, learning content, and assessments prior to attending the practical component, ensuring they have the foundational knowledge required.

  • The face-to-face training is conducted on-property, where participants engage in supervised, hands-on practical application using industry-standard equipment and livestock handling systems.

  • This approach ensures a balance between flexible learning and real-world skill development aligned with current industry practices.

  • Student numbers are kept at 6 per training program to ensure high practical, hands on experience and to support best practice animal welfare and ethical standards when working with cattle during training.

  • Victorian Animal Ethics is now approved for our purpose built location in Mortlake VIC and enrolments for Mortlake are NOW OPEN!

  • Dates for Mortlake are as follows - 
    • Group 1 - start/induction date 24th August, Practical 9-11 Sept 2026 - FULL - WAIT LIST OPEN
    • Group 2 - start/induction date 7th Sept, Practical 22-24th September 2026
    • Group 3 - start/induction date 21st Sept, Practical 7-9th October 2026
    • Group 4 - start/induction date 5th October, Practical 21-23rd October 2026
    • Group 5 - start/induction date 26th October, Practical 11-13th October 2026
    • Group 6 - start/induction date 9th November, Practical 25-27th Novebmer 2026

  • PLEASE NOTE: the start date for each Training Program is the date of the Online Induction Session. The Practical Sessions are approx. 2 x weeks after the Induction Session. PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE PRACTICAL SESSION DATES prior to enrolling.

STUDENT SUPPORT, RPL AND CREDIT TRANSFER

  • RPL and Credit Transfer is not applicable to this Training Program as there are only 2 Units of Completency delivered as a cluster format.

  • Catagra Group Training is committed to supporting students throughout their learning journey. We provide a range of student support services, including language, literacy and numeracy assistance, study skills guidance, access to learning resources, and flexible training arrangements where reasonably practicable.

COST, REFUND & CANCELLATION

  • Total Training Program fee is $2,600.00 

  • This fee covers training and assessment for the nationally recognised units of competency listed in this Information Sheet.

  • Catagra Group Training Pty Ltd applies a staged payment approach in accordance with the Standards for RTOs 2025.

  • An initial invoice of $1,500 will be issued upon acceptance of enrolment and must be paid prior to commencement of training

  • A second invoice for the remaining balance will be issued after training has commenced and prior to practical training sessions

  • Commencement of training is defined as the point at which the learner is granted access to learning materials, online systems, or participates in any training or assessment activity.

  • Catagra Group Training Pty Ltd does not require any payment prior to acceptance into the training product.
